Memo on

“UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, v.

JULIEN GIRAUD JR., and JULIEN GIRAUD III, Defendants,”

and “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, v.

CESAR HUMBERTO PINA, Defendant,”

and Alina Habba Unlawfully Acting as

U.S. Attorney in The District of New Jersey

+Assignment

During my internship with Congressman Mike Quigley, I was tasked with drafting a policy memo analyzing the legal controversy surrounding Alina Habba and her appointment as Acting U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey.

+Approach

I conducted research into current legal challenges and realized that to fully grasp the situation, I needed to analyze specific litigation. I reviewed the court cases United States v. Julien Giraud Jr. and Julien Giraud III and United States v. Cesar Humberto Pina to understand the arguments regarding her statutory authority.

+Result

I wrote a comprehensive analysis detailing how Alina Habba was found to be acting unlawfully in the role. I also synthesized the relevant court cases to provide the necessary context and the impact these legal findings had on federal prosecutions in New Jersey.
